Sailing adventure 2017

2 January 2017

I am really excited to introduce an opportunity for a 5-day residential sailing trip for older Scouts and Explorers of any age, which will take place at the very end of this summer’s school holidays.

The trip is being offered to Scouts who will be aged 12+ in August and Explorers of any age.  We’re hoping to run it as a District trip, involving young people from Scout Troops and Explorer Units across Wiltshire North.  Participants do not need any previous sailing experience.

The trip will involve sailing 72ft Challenger racing yachts, originally built for the BT Global Challenge round the world race.  Each yacht can sleep 10 Scouts / Explorers and the adults necessary to run the trip.  We have the option to take either one or two boats.  Full details, including dates, costs and how to apply for a place can be found in the following leaflet.

There are around 300 young people who would be eligible to take part in this trip and a maximum of 20 places.  With that in mind, I’d urge anyone who is interested to sign up as quickly as possible as places will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.  The deadline for applications is the end of January.

If you have any further questions about the trip, please drop me an email and I’ll answer as best I can.

The application form can be found here:
